Vicki Brannon’s son, Matthew, was only 14 years old when he was killed in an accidental shooting, after a gun went off while one of his friends was loading it. She decided to donate his organs.
Jennifer Lentini, a teenager suffering from a heart muscle disease at that time, received the transplant.
Years later, Lentini reached out to Brannon and set up a very emotional reunion on National Donor Day.
As a soul-stirring expression of her gratitude, Lentini gave Brannon a necklace with Matthew’s initials.
“I feel like I gained a daughter,” Brannon said.

On more than one occasion, this elderly man has been seen eating at the same diner with photos of his deceased wife next to him. According to people who spoke to the man, he first met her when they were both 17. They dated for a short while, then lost contact and spent more than a decade apart after he was sent off to war and her family moved. They tied the knot in 1954 and were happily married for 55 years until she passed away in 2009. He never leaves home without a picture of her.

A man who fell and broke his neck outside survived for 24 hours in the snow thanks to his dog. The Golden Retriever sat on top of him the entire time to keep him warm and licked his face and hands to keep him awake.
“She kept barking for help but never left my side. She kept me warm and alert. I knew I had to persevere through this and that it was my choice to stay alive,” the man said.
One of his neighbors discovered him thanks to the dog’s screeching howls and called the emergency services.
